As humans, we have emotions and sometimes we want to prove a point that we can do something.
I think when it comes to trading, one should have an independent mind and should not care what other people think.
If you are trading EURUSD and you are making money, there is no need to go and trade GOLD to prove a point that you can also make money trading GOLD.
We should get one thing in mind firmly. Why are trading?
Is it to prove a point, Is it to show off? Is it just for the thrill and fun of it or we are trading to make money ( profits).
Our number one goal of trading is to preserve capital and make profits. It does not matter what you trade.
I can count the number of times I have close my winning trades and trading in other pairs just to prove a point and i lost.
A clear example was yesterday. I was with a friend. we were trading in GOLD and losing money. I had another trade in oil which was showing profits.
I went ahead and closed the winning trade in OIL and trade in GOLD and lose the money again.
I knew what i was doing was bad. If i had maintained my independent thinking and no need to impress people i would have avoided the loss and made more money.
Well you guessed it, I lost the money.
From today, I have told myself, It does not matter what others think of me, I will only take trades that are in alignment with my system.
They can make all the millions in other trades. That is none of my business,
Dont try to impress anyone. If you make a mistake, accept it and move on.
